MERICS Members Briefing: China’s rise in semiconductors
We are delighted to host the exclusive MERICS Members Briefing on the launch of our new study: “China’s rise in semiconductors and Europe: Recommendations for policy makers”. The authors Jan-Peter Kleinhans (Stiftung Neue Verantwortung) and John Lee (MERICS) will present their report and discuss their findings.
The semiconductor industry has come to the forefront of national policy debates thanks to global semiconductor shortages and US–China competition in critical technologies. European member-state governments and the European Commission are devising long-term strategies to strengthen their domestic semiconductor industries, manage national security risk and improve the resilience of this critical and transnational value chain.
The study is the second instalment of a research project generously funded by Germany’s Federal Foreign Office.
Speaker:
- Jan-Peter Kleinhans, Director of the “Technology and Geopolitics” project at Stiftung Neue Verantwortung (SNV)
- John Lee, Senior Analyst at MERICS
Moderator:
- Claudia Wessling, Director Communications and Publications at MERICS
The discussion will take place via Zoom. Participation is for MERICS Members by invitation only.
